For the past two decades, HID has been the source of choice for hi-bay lighting applications. HID's high-lumen "punch" made it the cost-effective solution for a wide variety of warehouse, manufacturing, and retail applications, despite many drawbacks when compared to fluorescent sources. However, recent advances in lighting technology, notably the emergence of T5 HO lamps and ballasts, have swung the pendulum back in favor of fluorescent as the preferred choice in many, if not most, of these applications.

Columbia's LH Series of fluorescent Linear Hi-Bay offers three diverse luminaire families designed expressly for applications traditionally associated with HID sources. The LHR, LHB, and LHE families provide a wide range of lamp configurations, distributions, shapes, sizes, and price ranges to serve a host of applications from warehouse and industrial to gymnasiums and cafeterias to retail.

The LH Series:

is engineered for efficiency

offers a choice of distribution to deliver light to the task
uses fluorescent technology for greater maintained, delivered lumens per watt
is easy to install
delivers huge energy savings over standard metal halide systems

Brio is an innovative new recessed direct family of luminaires combining perf, dedicated louvers, and T5 technology to create a unique blend of aesthetics and performance. Using T5 High Output lamps, Brio meets RP-1 glare control standards without sacrificing efficiency. Housing depths are extremely shallow; the 2x2 and 2x4 units are only 2 1/2" deep. The style of the Brio adds an attractive design element, and the breadth of the Brio family allows installation in virtually any application.

Sizes: Brio is available in 2'x2', 2'x4', 4"x2', 4"x4'
Lamp Types: Brio is available for use with T5 and T5 HO lamps in 2' and 4' lengths - 14W 2' T5, 24W 2' T5 HO, 28W 4' T5 and 54W 4' T5 HO
Trim Types: Brio is available in four trim types: G, GT, F, and SM

Designation Description Application
G Grid 15/16" lay-in T-bar ceiling
GT Integral Cross Tee This trim allows the ends of the unit to rest on a standard T-bar while the sides act as an integral cross tee, supporting the ceiling tile. GT trim is standard for the 4" wide units. The advantage of the GT trim is that contractors do not need to frame the unit with T-bar; they simply drop Brio into their standard 2x4 tee system and cut the tile. Brio acts as the cross tee supporting the tile.
F Flange Hard ceiling such as drywall
SM Surface Mount Typically mounted to the room side of a hard ceiling

LitePro Logo For LitePro Software

Computer generated layouts and design verification have become a necessity in many of today's specifications. This demand has made the lighting design software market very competitive. Since its release in June 1998, LitePro 1.0 has been tremendously well received and has established itself as a leader in the lighting design software market.

An exceptionally positive and independent review of LitePro 1.0 was published in the November 1999 issue of LD&A magazine and is now featured on the following web site:

As summarized in the last paragraph of the review, "LitePro scores high marks. The program is easy to learn and easy to us.

LitePro™ - Innovative Lighting Design Software For Interior and Exterior Applications

LitePro software is formatted to run on Microsoft Windows® or Windows NT® and features a logical, straight-forward configuration that facilitates the lighting design process. Accurate, point-by-point indoor and outdoor lighting calculations, such as vertical and horizontal illuminance, wall and ceiling exitance, sloped and peaked ceilings and exterior building shadowing, simplifies traditional design procedures. Photometric, energy analysis, lumen method, luminaire schedule and illuminance summary reports are quickly and easily generated to ensure design accuracy.

Realistic three-dimensional color graphics illustrate job sites and the selected luminaire housings to instantly provide users with feedback on the effectiveness of project layouts and designs. High-quality renderings are easily generated without time-consuming CAD programs; however, the software allows the user to easily import and export two-dimensional DXF files for smooth transitions between LitePro and CAD programs. The powerful database features a progressive search engine which allows easy selection of Columbia and Prescolite•Moldcast luminaires by type or desired characteristics, as well as by catalog or test numbers. Ballast factors, input watts, lamps, lumens and light-loss factors are adjustable for specific applications.

Further information on LitePro application software is available by contacting a Columbia Representative
